Initial professional development
Setting the bar. A new competence regime for building a safer future. The Final Report of the Competence Steering Group for Building a Safer Future, published in October 2020, defines Initial Professional Development (IPD) as: ‘The intentional workplace development of the skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours, including the commencement of the application of professional judgement, needed to acquire competence.’
